Information and Advice Calls: Implementation of Mergers

With the implementation of area review recommendations and mergers at the forefront of the thinking of many college leaders, AoC and AoC Create would like to better understand the concerns of senior managers and to give you the opportunity to talk through key issues.  This will help us ensure that our support in this area stays relevant to college needs.

AoC and AoC Create would like to invite you to take part in informal and confidential discussion sessions with AoC President Ian Ashman, who has been closely involved in review and merger processes.

Organised on a first come first served basis, we will be allocating 30 minute phone call slots, during which Ian will want to understand the issues facing your college and will be pleased to take questions on topics such as; the merger timeline, project management, governance, liaising with statutory agencies and the process of submitting an application to the Transaction Unit.

Ian Ashman, President, Association of Colleges (AoC)

Ian Ashman is President of AoC for 2016 to 2017 and was Principal of Hackney Community College (HCC) between 2007 and 2016.  During this period, he oversaw significant improvements in student success rates, increased employer engagement and secured a good grade in the College’s inspection.

Ian led the strategic options review and implementation activity that led to HCC’s merger in 2016, was actively involved in the London area reviews and has helped develop and implement four college mergers over a 25 year period.
